Attached: "S/I58517 F.C. COPYRIGHT UNDERWOOD & UNDERWOOD, N.Y. WOUNDED ITALIANS BEAR PAIN WITH GREAT FORTITUTE AWAITING THE AMBULANCES. While the gnawing pains from serious wounds work their hardest to eke the determination from the brave Italians, who have been wounded in battle, the troopers just set their teeth a little harder and square their jaws, and put on an appearance of stolidity that bears no sembalance of pain. The wounded men walk in many cases to the road to await the ambulances that will take them to the hospital. Every step meaning pain to the men. The Italians porperly better than any other race, can bear pain with the greatest fortitude. The photo shows the soldiers sitting in the roadside waiting for the ambulances. Every one of them is wounded but still they sit up courageously as though nothing was wrong with them. OFFICIAL ITALIAN PHOTO. 9/18/17."
