Description:
Attached: "S/229034 PHOTO FROM UNDERWOOD & UNDERWOOD, N.Y. OUR BOYS "OVER THERE" TAUGHT USE OF GUN GRENADE. This French Official photo, the latest to arrive in this country, showing the training of our boys in France, shows French officers teaching steel-helmeted Yankee fighters the use of the gun grenade, called Tromblons. The American troopers in France are receiving individual instruction in the ways of modern warfare. This scene is duplicated many times in different sections of the camp, a half dozen Americans being shown the intricacies of the new fire arm by their French comrades. The grenade is attached to the rifle, and is dispatched towards the enemy lines in much the same fashion as the bullet. 10/22/17."
