Description:
Attached: "S/237207 PHOTO FROM UNDERWOOD & UNDERWOOD, N.Y. RELEASED FOR MARCH 4th. ROCKEFELLER HOME DEVOTED TO RED CROSS WORK. The homes of the rich are thriving with industry these days, for most have been turned over in whole or in part to the Red Cross for War Work. The New York County Chapter of the American Red Cross has taken the fullest advantage of the places so generously placed at their disposal. They have converted imposing dining rooms and ball rooms into busy workrooms where garments and surgical dressings for the soldiers are made. This photo shows the busy workers at their tasks in the Rockefeller home. Mr. Rockefeller has turned over the entire first floor and and the basement of his residence at 4 West 54th street, New York City to the Red Cross workers. Three generations of Rockefellers are shown watching the busy patriotic workers. Starting with the third woman from the left in the group at the rear of the room are: Miss McFadden, Director of Surgical Dressing, John D. Rockefeller, Sr., Master John D. Rockefeller, 3rd., and Miss Abbey Rockefeller, children of John. D. Rockefeller, Jr., Miss Lucy Aldrich, sister of Mrs. John D. Rockefeller, Jr., Miss Emma Williams, Dr. Wolfkin, pastor of the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, Mrs. Wolfkin, Mrs. John D. Rockefeller, Jr., and John D. Rockefeller, Jr. 3/1/18."
