Description:
Attached: "S/159821 F.C. UNDERWOOD & UNDERWOOD, N.Y. BOCHE FIGHTERS GET FIRST NEWS OF OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES. BALLOON SENT IN PRESENCE OF AMERICAN OFFICERS DROP PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS IN TEUTON LINES. Germany keeps her fighters in the darkness to the activities of the outside world, and keeps "feeding" them on her "home-made" knowledge of the great victories that are being accomplished, and how their enemies are suffering. It is only when the French send these "montgolfieres" small balloons up with true information regarding the situation as it is. President Wilson's messages have been liberally distributed by this method among the German troops. Aeroplanes often make trips over the enemy lines to drop pamphlets to the Boche forces below. In the upper photo a little balloon is being prepared for a flight over the enemy's lines with copies of President Wilson's speech advocating war against Austria-Hungary in the presence of an American Officer. 3/4/18."
