Attached: "S/231099 COPYRIGHT COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC INFORMATION, FROM UNDERWOOD & UNDERWOOD, N.Y. RELEASED NOV.15-1917." LIBERTY BOYS IN FRANCE BEING TAUGHT USE OF LIQUID FIRE. The Liberty Boys in France are being put through every phase of modern warefare. The photo shows the troops being instucted by the Poilus in the use of the liquid fire apparatus. In the photo the men are seeking to rout the enemy from protected positions in the woods on left. The trees and bushes have already caught fire and are seen blazing and the dense fumes that go with the liquid fire are enveloping the surrounding country. The American troops are getting extensive instruction in modern war methods and they are efficient soldiers when they get as far as the trenches. RELEASED NOV. 15TH. 11/12/17."

Yankee fighters can be counted on to be proficient in any kind of warfare, so it was not surprising that they displayed extraordinary skill after a short period of training with hand grenades and trench bombs. This remarkable photograph shows the Grenade exploding in what is supposed to be an enemy trench, which would have been blown to smithereens for the throw was accurate. The National Army men are learning how to win victories without exposing themselves unnecessarily. The trench bombs and grenades are deadly missiles when hurled accurately and Yankee arms rarely miss their mark. This photograph was made in one of the National Army [cantonments?]. Note: Readers of the [gap] who wish a photographic copy of the picture can obtain it by sending ten cents to the Division of Pictures, Committee on Public Information, Washington, D.C. Lower photo - Bombs were dropped on the dormitory of a children's hospital, which fortunately had been vacated in time by the 200 children, and none were injured there. The building is a mass of wreckage. If the children had not been removed, doubtless every one of them would have been killed. Over a hundred were killed in the Paris air raid, practically all women and children. Many were seriously wounded. German air raids over Paris have been very few for they are very costly and usually the airmen do not come back.
